Happy Sunday to all GSMS families!

Good evening to all you wonderful people! I hope you are all safe and warm as the snow and sleet continues to share all of its goodness with our area. Mr. Schrantz and I have had a day of shoveling our house out, helping our neighbors with their snow cleanup and we had a little fun with the 4-wheeler. Good times to be had!

Monday, January 26th - Snow Day

As was shared out this afternoon, tomorrow (Monday, January 26th) will be a "traditional" snow day due to the ongoing inclement weather. We cannot be certain what the rest of the week will bring (as that has not yet been determined) but in the event a FID (Flexible Instruction Day) Day is scheduled, please note the following guidelines.
  • A FID Day is a virtual learning day and it is going to look different and have different learning expectations then a “brick and mortar” day (in more ways than the location).
  • Teachers will communicate to learners assignments for the day and all learning will be asynchronous.
  • Teachers will communicate out to families/learners when they will be available for support through live Meets for “drop in" questions and clarifications. These meets may be coordinated with teams in order to provide a system of availability throughout the day.
  • Attendance will be confirmed through work completion. It is recommended that all work be submitted by 2:35 PM of the FID Day but we recognize these days require flexibility. As a result, all work needs submitted within 3 days of returning from the FID day for a learner to be considered "in attendance" for the FID Day.
As I share this information, I want to conclude with the reality that there may be challenges to these processes. We recognize that if this need to learning arises, your family will also be balancing the needs of your homes and families. Please let us know how we can help in any need. We are here to work through these days with each of you and I shared before, we must be flexible, patient and work as a team.

GSMS Spring Dance

You may have already heard through your child but we want to make sure families have all the information for our GSMS Spring Dance scheduled for Friday, March 6th from 6:30-8:00 in the middle school gym. The dance is being hosted by the GSMS Student Council. As we shift into the 3rd marking period we continue to have high expectations for all learners as they exemplify the "Spartan Way" by doing what's right, doing their best, and doing for others. As a result, attending the dance is contingent on learners meeting these expectations of both their school and community. Ticket sales begin Monday, March 2. To purchase a ticket, a learner must have earned at least 15 PBIS points between January 15th and February 27th. Tickets will cost $5 or 50 PBIS points.

We are excited to host this event.
