Happy Sunday to all GSMS families!

Happy Sunday evening to each of you! I hope you have had a wonderful weekend with your most favorite people in a warm location. I never thought weather forecasts in the mid 30s would sound so balmy but they do! Let the sun shine and the winds diminish.

PBIS Points

Good choices are plentiful at Garden Spot Middle School as over 7000 points were earned across our campus last week. Your children continue to amaze us as they epitomize the high standards of our community by exemplifying the Spartan Way as they "Do What's Right, Do Their Best and Do for Others." Thank you for for all you do to support us in this work.

Attendance

Key to your child's success in school is regular attendance. We recognize there are instances which occur and prevent your child from being at school. Please communicate with your child's teacher to ensure that work is still completed and excuse notes are shared with the office.

As shared with you in the Garden Spot Middle School Handbook-

Each learner’s attendance will be recorded daily. In order to communicate with families, a letter will be sent home after 5 and 10 days of absences have been reached. Once a learner reaches 10 days total of absences a doctor’s excuse will be required for each additional absence to be excused. Letters will also be sent home when the learner is unlawfully absent from school and parents may be invited to participate in a Student Attendance Improvement Conference (SAIC).

Let us know if we can support your family in any way.

Important Upcoming Dates

Thursday, February 12th - Early Dismissal (secondary at 11:15)
Friday, February 13th - No School for Learners (Teacher In-service Day)
Monday, February 16th - No School for Learners or Staff

GSMS Spring Dance

As I continue to share I want to make sure families have all the information for our GSMS Spring Dance scheduled for Friday, March 6th from 6:30-8:00 in the middle school gym. The dance is being hosted by the GSMS Student Council. As we shift into the 3rd marking period we continue to have high expectations for all learners as they exemplify the "Spartan Way" by doing what's right, doing their best, and doing for others. As a result, attending the dance is contingent on learners meeting these expectations of both their school and community. Ticket sales begin Monday, March 2. To purchase a ticket, a learner must have earned at least 15 PBIS points between January 15th and February 27th. Tickets will cost $5 or 50 PBIS points.

We are excited to host this event.
